A Lot of Firsts

Today we went to the zoo and I'm sure it was Caroline's first trip.  She liked the animals, but still wanted me to hold her or ride in the stroller.  She's still really insecure about walking around in new places.

Then Daddy got her an ice cream.  I'm certain this was her first one as she had no idea what it was, but loved it once we showed her how to eat it.

I got to feed the giraffe's.

When we returned back to the hotel room we decided to go out for pizza.  After that, we took Caroline out to an area of the hotel that has fish, grass, trees and even a waterfall.  This is when we realized that she had never walked in the grass:(.  When we put her down on the grass she would point at it, cry and get on her tip toes.  Brad and I both looked at each other and shed a couple of tears.  Who would have ever thought that she had never walked in grass?  Not us, but when I think about it I'm sure she hasn't.  We did not see any grass in the orphanage and if her foster mother lives in an apartment like we have seen they wouldn't have had grass either.  We were shocked and realized there is so many firsts for her.  So much she has yet to see or do.  We worked with her for a couple hours and finally got her to walk on the grass for a short time.  This girl has so much to look forward to and we get to watch it!  She's made us realize what life is all about!
